No shots yesterday but we had some good chases going on. We ran 5 bear 13 deer and a few turkey as a club yesterday. I personally saw 4 bear and a couple turkey. Naturally bear was out and the turkey were out of range and it wasn't a doe day.

No haven't every really thought on it. I don't really go out hunting for bear. It's more of a if they come by and there in season then awesome, if not then oh well.

My buddy killed a great buck (13 scorable points, 13" G-2's) Christmas Eve at 4:45 with muzzleloader and got it all on film. One of the Virginia based hunting shows on the Outdoor Channel wants the footage so I will let y'all know when it airs!

I killed a small small doe making a drive last week. She ran a button hook and came right back to me dog nippin at her tail. Ran a bunch of deer out but no one else got a shot that drive. Last drive I stepped on the buck. Would have been a 4 or 5 point but one side was busted off. Dogs ran right over him, there holding tight now boys.

Good shooting Nick.

Don't know about the rest of you guys, but things have slowed down around me. I sat in that crap yesterday morning until 11 and then called it a day. Hopefully the guys on the property next to me will be running dogs on Saturday to get some deer moving.

We had an awesome last two days up in buckingham. We had a nearby club join us friday and we more deer than we had all year. At the end of the day we saw 36 deer. One of the younger boys in the other club killed a decent 8 point and another of there members killed a small doe. Lots of good chases and some big bucks spotted but a lot of people missed or the deer found the holes. I was driving dogs all day friday so I didn't see much but man was it good to listen to.

Today the total was in the 20's on deer spotted. Again some great chases. I had a monster pull one over on me. I saw him 10 yards before he hit the road which I had to shoot the exact moment he hit the road or he would be gone (tight cover). Somewhere in that 10 yards before he hit the road a small 5 point jumped in front of the monster and right out in the road. I saw the flash of brown with some horns on top, took the one shot I had at 86 yards (walked it off later), the dogs kept running and shut off 50 yards after they crossed the road. As I walked down the hill to collect my monster buck you can imagine my face when I got to him. The dogs did eventually hit on the monster again and ran him by another member that missed. I don't know how he pulled that magic trick on me but it was his lucky day I suppose.

END OF THE LINE!! around here anyway. the hunt club that runs the land behind me put out every dog they have(and they may have tossed in a few housedogs for good measure). got the deer up and moving this morning for sure. i heard several chases and a good bit of shooting, but only saw one deer. fortunatly for me, the deer ran out into an opening in front of my stand and stopped to have a look around. bad move for the button buck but good for me. i took my slug gun this morning(i still hunt, wasn't sure about the dogs), so the little fellow didn't go far after the hammer dropped. i don't know about anybody else, but the kind of damage these modern slugs can do is always amazing. so i took a couple of pics(since this is a picture thread).

1st pic is the entry wound. pretty standard, about the size of the projectile.

http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j374/thecwa77/hillbilly%20tactical/IMG_2165_zpsea8659d0.jpg

2nd pic is the exit wound. YAWZA!

http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/j374/thecwa77/hillbilly%20tactical/IMG_2166_zps98dbafb2.jpg

that was a 300grain hornady sst 12ga slug at about 40 yards. you can imagine what the chestall section between those two holes was like... ewwww!

here's hoping for some more good stories to start rolling in from the last day(of deer season anyway). anybody need/want help wacking some varmints or yotes? smile
