Real bad experience. First he changed meeting time and place a few times at last minute. Finally when we met he ran away without showing me his VA ID. Inspected the purchased gun at home and the slide, barrel and mag-well had water in it. I tried calling/ messaging him again and he wont reply. Then when I messaged him that I am informing ATF he replied back and said he will meet to return the money and take his power-washed gun back. He was no show for the meeting. I have informed ATF as my biggest concern is that it should not be a stolen/crime-involved gun.

Your local PD should be able to check on the gun and guy if you really want to pursue it and have concerns.

Not trying to start a post-war here. I have met some very nice guys via this forum. This is an FYI post. As I said I am only concern about the gun being stolen or not,,,, and the seller being a VA resident or not. I gave him a week to sort it out but he refused to respond so I did what I had to do to cover my self legally. As for the weapon, I am still not sure why there was water in it everywhere.

I've got to ask why you didn't get more suspicious when the seller "ran away" or refused to show ID. Refusing to show ID should be one of the first things that makes you say no go. Why would you accept a firearm without checking it out there with the seller?

This whole things sounds really weird. Hope it works out for you.

Normal transactions are often more than just throwing guns and money at each other while passing though a parking lot. Why would you buy the damn gun if it had water in it?!

Is this for real? Did you not rack the slide and inspect the gun?

Here are a bit more details for you curious minds out there
We met at Ihop's busy parking lot. He came on a motorcycle (drz400 I think). We said Hi, he took out the gun case from his backpack and gave it to me. I showed him my CCW and VA-Id and opened the case. The gun looked okay with normal wear so I gave him the cash and asked him to count and show me his state ID while I moved a few feet to the back door of my truck to inspect the gun (didnt want to do it in open while families were walking around. While I started inspection of the weapon and was about to remove the slide he took off without any notice. I didnt want to create a scene by yelling at him or going after him.
I will know in a few days if the gun is stolen or not. If any of you has dealt with him in past and have seen his VA-ID let me know so that issue is not a worry anymore. Once its confirmed that there are no issues with the purchase then I will clean the gun thoroughly and test fire it.

just for the record, HWiii has not been online since 06-06. i don't know why, and i don't know anything about this situation, but that would explain why he has not responded to this.

Another member from the forum has confirmed that he lives in VA. So that's not an issue anymore. Once I know the gun is clean I could care less about this whole unnecessary headache.

For everything I do....money is the last thing exchanged before the so long salute.....

I agree a 100% with that. I like to inspect the gun and shoot the sh!t for a little while. Like to get a feel for the buyer/seller, which ever the situation is.
