Just picked one up to discover the safety does not function. Walmart as you know doesn't do gun returns, even on dangerous defective guns.

Before contacting Hatfield, I disassembled to thoroughly clean and inspect. The frame of the trigger group is some sort of composite plastic. The safety mechanism is too small to block the trigger from being pulled enough to release the sear.

Not sure at this time if this is a design or manufacturing flaw. Waiting to hear back from Hatfield at this time, but this is a gun to be wary of.

Walmart is required by law to do returns for defective guns. You would to speak directly to the Store Manger of the location from which you purchased said firearm. He will be able to effect a return /and or repair of your shotgun.

Well, Walmart corporate disagrees with this. Apparently stores can have their own return policies on items.

I will call Monday to talk to the store manager directly however.

Don't want to discourge you but it is very unlikely you'll be able to do the return. I work for a walmart sporting goods and we are told absolutely no returns on firearms or ammunition under any circumstance and that all issues are to be taken up with the manufacturer.
