Hi all, trying to get into long range 22lr shooting. I recently purchased a CZ 457 Varmint Precision with a 24" threaded barrel.

I've already purchased and mounted a 30 moa scope base from Area 419.

So my question is, what optic would anyone recommend for this rifle shooting 300+ yards? All I know is I want it to be FFP.

Thanks for the help!

My $60 24X scope from Amazon works great. With either Winchester or Federal brick ammo, I can hit empty shotgun hulls 4 out of 10 times and oranges 7 out of 10 times at 300 yards. I doubt it can track with high accuracy and consistency but once set, it will hold zero at acceptable level that shooter and ammo are bigger variables to hit probability. And true power is more like 12X-16X even though it is advertised as 24X.

Made by CVA to be budget optic with illumination. But you mentioned Area 419 so you should get Vortex for $200-$300, depending power level, because your circle may look down on budget optics. My circle is mostly bubbas so they care more of you hit anything verse what the labels are.

One of the things you need to concern yourself with is crosshair size. If it's too thick it'll make it very difficult to see if you are holding on the center of the target. In my opinion, having a crosshair dot is no good for this application, for the same reason. This will greatly narrow what you can and cannot use but that's also helpful in a way. Are you planning on using a spotting scope to make corrections? You also mentioned 300+ yards being possible. Will your distance be known every time or is it unknown distance shooting, with a minimum range of 300 yards? Fair weather shooting or all weather? I'll dredge up some more questions for you eventually but those are some simple things you should consider, just off the top of my head.
