While I do use a bore snake sometimes they aren't much good for cleaning a gun, much less dies.

"They aren't much good for cleaning a gun, much less dies"
---Sounds like, operator error.
1.Try using a SOLVENT on the bore snake (one that is effective on bullet lube and is cheap, is good ole WD 40). It helps if the bore snake is relatively NEW, since the imbedded metal bristles will be doing the majority of the removal.
Now, IF you have LET your dies get extremely dirty and the wax has been in the dies for a long time, and has gotten real hard; you may just need to disassemble and pull the propane torch out!
DO NOT DO THIS ON THE PRESS, WITH POWDER IN THE HOPPER! (for obvious reasons)
2. When competing, I use a new bore-snake to clean the chamber of my race pistol between shooting stages; in lightly sprung (competition-tuned pistols) even a SMALL amount of firing residue in the barrels chamber can and may cause a cartridge to not fully go into battery... My gun always went bang. I was alone bore snaking between stages when there wasn't time for tear-downs; I saw numerous competitor's guns fail to chamber with light recoil springs during the heat of competition... I may not have always been the fastest or most accurate but I had a gun that cycled and that brought me many wins and titles.

You may want to do a search on different gun lubes and see thr results of the tests. Good ole wd40 isn't the best to use. I beieve it came in at the bottom of the list. It attracts moisture according to the study.

Actually, the medals are for 2 time Va. state SSP/IDPA Champion- 1 time Silver medalist and 1 time bronze. Fraternal order of Police, silver medal----Competition guns need lube, not WD 40 which we ALL know evaporates rather promptly..(Wow, I must know a thing or two about keeping my junk running eh?)
I STARTED THIS TOPIC TO HELP OTHER SHOOTERS!!! The topic, was cleaning pistol dies the EASY way; I realize that most people have WD or Rust Buster stored somewhere in their home, shed etc.
Most people, don't have Varsol, acetone, etc. laying around.
There is no need for getting red.(D-head), resorting to name calling usually indicates a mental or physiological flaw in which the conversant is incoherent to analysis and unable to express himself in a constructive manner...
Stage two of the process: subject will usually, enlist the "help" of a co-conspirator to nullify his impotence; the conspirator/conspirators usually exhibit the same irrational mind-set and exhibit anti-social coping disorders...
