Anyone ever try this?
Plan:
I have a want to cast round leads at +/- .680 for mini 12 gauge loads.
Why?
I have a 12 shot Mossberg 930 (with tube extended) and would like to make her a 20+ shot Mossberg 930 (with tube extended) by loading short shells, with heavy lead balls.
Just for giggles.
Anyone cast?

Sign me up for the re-loading party. I will bring the once fired hi brass shotgun hulls!!
Never tried it, but there must be a mold you can buy for a cute little 400-500 gr. slug!!

Some chatter here... http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?231104-690-round-balland some samples and molds here. http://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categories/PartDetail.aspx/187/1/BALL-690-XI got the lead if you get the pot/molds/samples. Roll crimper here... http://www.ballisticproducts.com/Original-Roll-Crimping-Tool-12ga/productinfo/ROLL12/Need a lock base to use a roll crimper. Harbor Freight mini chop saw to shorten the 12 ga hulls (i.e. the same one everybody use for .300 B/O brass). If my math is right... we would end up with 1.9" (or less) long mini-shells with magnum speeds and 1.13 ounce balls... that should feed/cycle in a Mossberg 930. Steel cup wads as a gas check. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/492274/...teel-bag-of-250437.5 grains per ounce. Pure Lead Ball Weight .310 = 45 grains .315 = 47 grains .321 = 50 grains .350 = 65 grains .360 = 71 grains .375 = 80 grains .395 = 92 grains .400 = 96 grains .433 = 122 grains .437 = 127 grains .440 = 128 grains .443 = 131 grains .445 = 133 grains .451 = 138 grains .454 = 141 grains .457 = 144 grains .490 = 177 grains .498 = 180 grains .520 = 212 grains .530 = 224 grains .535 = 231 grains .543 = 241 grains .550 = 251 grains .560 = 260 grains .562 = 276 grains .570 = 279 grains .575 = 286 grains .595 = 317 grains .600 = 325 grains .610 = 342 grains .648 = 410 grains .662 = 437 grains .678 = 469 grains .680 = 473 grains .690 = 495 grains .715 = 550 grains .730 = 586 grains .735 = 598 grains .760 = 661 grains .775 = 700 grains .835 = 875 grains .919 = 1167 grains 1.052 = 1750 grains Starting to giggle yet?
