Martin Luther King day is Lobby Day in Richmond That is a holiday and you might have off work. Kids will be off school. This is a great event for kids, an educational experience.

What is Lobby Day? Its a day where the General Assembly building opens its doors for anyone who wants to lobby their lawmakers and elected politicians for....well, anything you want. The VCDL will be organizing gun owners for this event. Basically you just need to show up. We need to fill the halls and the grounds with gun owners. We need to be seen and heard!!!

Remember, the anti-gunners will be there as well. They will be shipped in there by the busloads....seriously!!

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Who will make the most noise? Us or the antis?

Look at this as preventative maintenance for our gun rights. You spend a few hours a year performing preventative maintenance on your car so will be there for you, right? So spend a few hours on Lobby Day to help insure your gun rights will be there for you.

We have buses picking up in Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Roanoke, and Lynchburg for Lobby Day this year. If you wish to take one of the buses, Tess Ailshire and Leyla Myers will take your RSVP at email address: bus@vcdl.org

IMPORTANT: Include in the email which location you will be using (Roanoke, Lynchburg, Fairfax, or Fredericksburg) AND the number of people in your party.

We *request* a $20 contribution to help offset the cost of the buses (about $1,000 each). However, it is more important that we have plenty of people at Lobby Day, so if you can't make a full contribution or can't contribute at all, that is not a problem. Anyone wishing to contribute more, we'll gratefully accept that, too. Proof of a contribution is not required to get on the bus.

NOTE: **All buses will arrive at Lobby Day at 8 a.m. and will leave at 2 p.m.** The buses have restrooms.

Return time: 3:50 p.m.

2) Please includes a cell phone number when you make your reservations to allow us to contact you should there be any last minute issues or if you fail to show up for the 2 PM return time…

We need a good turnout at this year's Lobby Day, so please plan on attending! Lobby Day is held at the General Assembly building in Richmond. We will be marshaling into teams at the Bell Tower (9th and Bank streets) at 8 AM and then heading into the temporary General Assembly Building at 900 East Main Street.

VCDL has buses coming from Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Roanoke, and Lynchburg. We request a contribution of $20 to help cover the cost of the buses, but it is not necessary to do so. To RSVP a seat on one of the buses, send an email to: bus@vcdl.org and include your name, city where you will catch the bus, the number in your party, and your cell phone number.

A rally will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at the Bell Tower on the Capitol grounds.

The speakers for this year's rally include:

Dr. John Lott, Jr. - economist, political commentator, and gun-rights advocate.

GUN CONTROL TAKES IT ON THE CHIN!

YES!!!

The remaining gun-control bills, except for a single "Stop Gun Violence" license plate bill, are now all officially dead! They were effectively pocket vetoed because the committee they were assigned to didn't have a chance to hear them.


ONLY THREE GOOD BILLS REMAIN, THOUGH

Our agenda was also hit pretty hard. The weakness on some bills we thought were pretty straight forward was surprising.

Pro-rights bills that are still alive:

Senator Chafin's SB 372, which repeals the "good and sufficient reason" church law, is technically still alive, but without something major happening, it will probably die, like Delegate LaRock's HB 1180 did. More faith leaders are going to have to step up to the plate on this.
