I have a 1908 M-S that originally was chambered in 8x56. At some time it was modified to use 8mm-06.

I would like to find a gunsmith to evaluate this gun for safety, and possibly rework it to use conventional (non wildcat) ammunition.

I am in SW Virginia, but am able/willing to travel/ship for service. Looking for the best option for this work.

Have you checked the M/S forum on Facebook? There are many good resources there. Congrats on keeping that old gal alive. 8mmx'06 sounds potent!

The forum is pretty well trafficked and if there's anyone who can help you, you will find them there.

FWIW - In the last year, I found a 1965 Steyr M/S in .30-06. Came with serialized box & test target, red wax wrap and factory 26.5mm scope mount. Now topped with a vintage 4X Geco, I've taken 3 deer and plan to hunt her till I'm done. They are great and elegant rifles and the Schoenauer magazine system is fantastic.

Waidmanssheil!
