Throwing this out there to warn others. My wife and I recently decided to switch from Verizon mobile to Xfinity mobile. We're getting new phones as part of the deal. The phones came in on Thursday and my son was the 1st to activate his new phone. Within a few minutes my wife got a phone call saying they were from Xfinity and they realized that they had accidentally shipped us refurbished phones instead of new ones. They sent her a shipping label to return the phones and offered a discount for the inconvenience.

One thing to note here is that the person calling knew what phones we had gotten, our address and my wife's email.

My wife took the phones to a Fedex hub and shipped them off.

Yesterday she got an email from Xfinity asking why we hadn't activated the new phones. That seemed odd so she contacted Xfinity and sure enough it's a scam. She called Fedex and was able to stop the shipment and they will return the package to us. She gave Xfinity all the info she had and we're waiting to hear back from the local police department to see if they can do anything.

I wanted to pass this along because the scammers had detailed info that made them seem legit. It seems like someone from within Xfinity is part of this or they hacked Xfinity's system and got customer info.

Either way, stay alert!!
