This is a Model 37(R) .12 GA shotgun. The serial number (306597) places it early 1950, the year after they quit identifying the 37 "R" (Ribbed) models, and started marketing them just as Model 37.
This one has beautiful honest patina, nice checkering and is still rock solid. The down side of the shotgun:
a) The barrel was cut to 24". It was well done and has a shotgun bead installed, but the fact is that it's a clipped barrel at 24"
b) There is a chip on the left side of the bottom of the grip
c) It's missing the grip cap
d) The recoil pad still works, but could stand to be replaced
