I have the following rifles up for consignment sale. Price is out the door. I'm not looking for trades at this time. I'll get pics up as soon as I can, but let me know if you want something specific.
Springfield 1903
U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903, SN 257653, 1906 production. RIA 10-17 barrel, WWII Springfield SA/GAW arsenal-inspected stock with crossed-cannon cartouche and proof P. Military configuration. Equipped with a front sight protector. Low-number receiver. Bore is dark with substantial pitting but rifling remains visible. It has what I believe to be the original sling. This rifle reflects a history from pre-WWI through WWII. Asking $1000. Open to cash offers. **************************************** Japanese Type 38 Arisaka Long Rifle
Japanese Type 38 Arisaka Long Rifle Early Koishikawa/Tokyo Arsenal Intact Mum Substantially Matching
Early-production Japanese Type 38 Arisaka long rifle, chambered in 6.5Χ50mmSR Japanese, manufactured at the Koishikawa/Tokyo Arsenal. Receiver serial number is 065212. The rifle retains its intact Imperial chrysanthemum (mum), which has not been ground or defaced. The rifle remains in its original military-style long-rifle configuration with an approximately 31-inch barrel, full-length military stock, original-pattern rear sight, bayonet lug, and cleaning rod. Several major components are numbered 212, matching the last three digits of the receiver serial number: Bolt body 212 Safety knob 212 Bayonet lug 212 No visible numbers were found on the extractor, firing pin, or magazine floorplate. Based on the matching major components, the rifle can reasonably be described as substantially matching, although not every individual part has been verified. The cleaning rod is present and intact, an important completeness feature on surviving Type 38 rifles. The stock shows honest military-service wear, handling marks, dents, and finish wear consistent with an early 20th-century service rifle. The rifle has not been sporterized and retains its traditional military configuration. Bore-scope inspection shows strong, clearly visible rifling with scattered frosting and age-related wear. The muzzle crown remains intact and reasonably even. The chamber shows more pronounced pitting and surface roughness than the bore, and that condition should be taken into consideration when evaluating the rifle for firing. Key features: Type 38 Arisaka Long Rifle Koishikawa/Tokyo Arsenal 6.5Χ50mmSR Japanese Serial 065212 Approximately 31-inch barrel Intact Imperial chrysanthemum Bolt numbered 212 Safety numbered 212 Bayonet lug numbered 212 Original cleaning rod present Full military configuration Strong visible rifling Rough/pitted chamber Substantially matching major components No obvious commercial sporterization Overall, this is an appealing early Type 38 with several desirable collector characteristics, particularly the intact mum, matching major components, original long-rifle configuration, and retained cleaning rod. Asking $1000 *******************************************
Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Short Rifle
Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Short Rifle 37th Series Tokyo Juki Kogyo Matching Bolt Assembly Japanese Type 99 Arisaka short rifle, chambered in 7.7Χ58mm Japanese, manufactured by Tokyo Juki Kogyo as part of the 37th Series. Receiver serial number is 18962. The rifle retains a clearly visible Imperial chrysanthemum (mum), but the crest has been deliberately chopped/cancelled rather than completely ground away. The rifle remains in standard military short-rifle configuration with an approximately 26-inch barrel and an overall length of approximately 44 inches. This example retains several desirable original military features, including: Anti-aircraft rear sight wings Cleaning rod Original-pattern military stock and furniture Early Type 99 military configuration
The bolt assembly is matching to the rifle. The following components are all marked 962, corresponding to the last three digits of receiver serial 18962:
Bolt body 962 Safety knob 962 Firing pin 962 Extractor 962
No visible serial number was observed on the bayonet lug. The rifle is missing the dust cover and monopod, both of which are commonly absent from surviving Type 99 rifles.
Bore-scope inspection shows a good bore with strong, clearly defined rifling. There is some light age-related discoloration/frosting, but no widespread severe pitting was observed in the areas inspected. The chamber appears clean and in good condition, and the crown is even with no obvious major impact damage or heavy erosion.
The stock shows honest military-service wear, dents, handling marks, and finish wear consistent with age. The rifle remains in military configuration and does not appear to have been commercially sporterized.
Identification and features Model: Type 99 Arisaka Short Rifle Manufacturer: Tokyo Juki Kogyo Series: 37th Series Caliber: 7.7Χ58mm Japanese Serial number: 18962 Barrel length: approximately 26 inches Overall length: approximately 44 inches Imperial mum: Chopped/cancelled Bolt: 962 matching Safety: 962 matching Firing pin: 962 matching Extractor: 962 matching Cleaning rod: Present Anti-aircraft sight wings: Present Dust cover: Absent Monopod: Absent Bore: Good, strong rifling Chamber: Good Crown: Good Overall configuration: Original military pattern
Overall, this is an appealing 37th Series Tokyo Juki Kogyo Type 99 retaining several desirable early/mid-war features, including the AA sight wings and cleaning rod. Its strongest collector attributes are the matching bolt assembly, good bore/chamber condition, and largely visible chopped mum. The principal deductions are the missing dust cover and monopod. Asking $1000
******************************************** Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Short Rifle
Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Short Rifle Nagoya Arsenal 10th Series Late-War Last Ditch Matching Bolt Assembly
Japanese Type 99 Arisaka short rifle, chambered in 7.7Χ58mm Japanese, manufactured at the Nagoya Arsenal as part of the 10th Series. Receiver serial number is 91172. The rifle retains an intact Imperial chrysanthemum (mum), which is a significant collector feature because many surrendered rifles had the crest ground or defaced. This is a genuine late-war Substitute Standard / last ditch Type 99, showing the simplified production features associated with the final stages of Japanese wartime manufacture. These include the simplified fixed rear sight, crude exterior machining, simplified stock and sling hardware, wooden buttplate, shortened handguard configuration, and omission of a cleaning rod. The bolt assembly is matching to the rifle.
The following components are all marked 172, corresponding to the final three digits of receiver serial 91172: Bolt body 172 Safety knob 172 Firing pin 172 Extractor 172 No visible number was observed on the bayonet lug.
The rifle measures approximately 44 inches overall with an approximately 26-inch barrel.
Bore-scope inspection shows a good bore with strong, clearly defined rifling and only light scattered wear or corrosion. The chamber appears clean and in good condition, and the crown appears even and serviceable with no obvious major damage.
The stock shows the rough, utilitarian wartime finish expected on a late 10th Series Nagoya rifle. The exposed barrel/shortened upper handguard area and absence of a cleaning rod are consistent with the simplified late-war configuration rather than necessarily representing missing parts.
Identification and features Model: Type 99 Arisaka Short Rifle Arsenal: Nagoya Series: 10th Series Caliber: 7.7Χ58mm Japanese Serial number: 91172 Barrel length: approximately 26 inches Overall length: approximately 44 inches Imperial mum: Intact Bolt: 172 matching Safety: 172 matching Firing pin: 172 matching Extractor: 172 matching Rear sight: Simplified fixed late-war pattern Buttplate: Wooden late-war pattern Cleaning rod: Not present / late-war omission Upper handguard: Late-war shortened/simplified configuration Bore: Good, strong rifling Chamber: Good Crown: Good Overall configuration: Correct late-war military pattern
Overall, this is a very representative 10th Series Nagoya late-war Type 99 with several strong collector attributes: an intact mum, fully matching bolt assembly, correct late-war simplified features, and good internal barrel condition. The crude machining and simplified furniture are period-correct characteristics of this final wartime production pattern rather than defects. Asking $1000
