IMPORTANT: VCDL's "Armed With Your Vote" Project
The Problem
If Virginia’s 2.5-million gun-owners would show up at the polls each year to support the candidates that support us, we could change the entire narrative on guns! The thought of gun owners unifying at the polls terrifies our opponents – and it should.
However, too many of us are either not registered to vote or don’t vote. Hunters, a large group of gun owners, are notoriously disengaged when it comes to voting. We are throwing away opportunities to restore and protect our right to keep and bear arms by needlessly ceding elections to gun grabbers! Complacency makes us our own worst enemy.
Oh, there are plenty of excuses to avoid voting, such as:
“My vote doesn’t count” “Elections are rigged so why bother?” or “Both parties are the same”
Those excuses are just that - excuses:
Your vote DOES count. A lot of elections in Virginia have been razor-thin, with the win going either way. Just an extra handful of people showing up to vote can make a difference. If gun owners turned out in massive numbers, many of those elections wouldn’t even be close! Could an election be rigged? Sure, but there is a limit on how many votes can be manufactured and how widespread the voter fraud can be. With a large turnout, elections become too big to rig. On top of that, the U.S. Department of Justice is keeping an eye on Virginia The parties are NOT the same. One party, with a few exceptions that would be worthy of support, is hellbent on civilian disarmament, and the other party, with a few exceptions that are not worthy of support, votes to protect the right to keep and bear arms. Even a quick glance at VCDL’s General Assembly Voting Record documents bears that out.
The Solution
To elect pro-gun candidates by getting as many gun owners as possible registered to vote and to the polls, VCDL has created a project called “Armed With Your Vote” (AWYV). Part of that project focuses on hunters.
The concept is simple. VCDL has created a series of six flyers that can be downloaded and distributed. Each AWYV flyer has a QR code that can be scanned on a cellphone and opens the Virginia Department of Elections Citizen Portal webpage, where someone can:
register to vote check their voter registration status find their polling place and apply to vote absentee by mail
VCDL is encouraging voters to join the permanent absentee list, so you will get a ballot mailed to you for each election. You can fill out the ballot and mail it back. If you don’t trust the mail, you can also return the ballot to either the Registrar’s office or to a drop-off location.
VCDL will have flyer #1 posted at its table at all gun shows. Gun owners can scan the QR code on their phone and register to vote on the spot.
What VCDL needs YOU to do
We need to spread the word to get fellow gun owners and other likeminded people registered to vote and to the polls.
Print out the flyers that you want to share. Take them to the range, gun store, church, club meeting, and other appropriate locations.
Since the flyers have a QR code, you can bring one copy and let people scan the code and register right there. Alternatively, you can bring multiple copies to hand out. You can leave a copy on a bulletin board or in some other common area where people can see it.
If you are a hunter, bring one or more of the hunter-related flyers to your next hunt club meeting. Put a copy in your club newsletter. Encourage your fellow hunters to take flyers to any other clubs where they are members to spread the word as far as possible.
You can download the flyers by clicking here.
If you don’t have the download link handy, just go to the vcdl.org page, click on the Resources menu, then click on “Armed With Your Vote”.
It’s all hands on-deck. Together we can turn Virginia around!
