Was this buck old? Spikes do not equal bad genes if it's young.

Glad you got that bruiser, he's real pretty. This year has been fun, but haven't seen any big ones. Bunch of spikes, and little 3-6 pointers, seen 3 8pts and 2 7's that just need another year to grow.

Look forward to seeing it mounted.

Believe it or not I just had his horns put on a plaque. The one year I have the money to get the mount done I just dont have the time. I take my deer ( I say that like I have done it more than once BWAHAHAHAHA) to a guy in Bedford county. He is a real close friend of the family and does a really good job. My FIL does a real nice job of mounting the rack on a piece of walnut and covering the skull plate with red velvet for $40 so i just had him do that. MAybe in a few years if I havent killed another wall hanger I will take te rack and have it mounted.

lots of dogs moving around my house yesterday. they managed to stir up a big boy for me. he was so far ahead of the dogs that he stopped to get a look around which gave me a chance to drop the hammer on him. turned out to be a nice 8 point.

this proves he can be decorative... and functional. a very nice gun rack. laugh

Very nice congrats, dogs were working good at the club yesterday for us too. Ran a decent buck to a youth member and he killed it. Ran a wall hanger out of the same drive and he managed to find the holes in our lines and live to see another day. Also ran 4 bear and some does throughout the day. I introduced a spike to a steel ford bumper at 5 am on my way to the club. Pictures to come.

looks like a good day dealfinder. i spoke to some of the guys from the club that was running dogs, and they killed a total of 10 yesterday. one of them was a nice 12 point that went to a young boy, that's a good way to get a kid hooked on hunting.

Oh yeah he was fired up cwa, he had killed some with the muzzle loader and rifle before but this was his first shotgun kill. And when the young kids get fired up like that it makes driving through them briers and stuff you cant see 5 feet in front of your nose, all worth it. Hope you got a big freezer jrallen, looks tasty.

I filled my freezer months ago, so these 4 went to Mast Meats for Hunters 4 the Hungry. It's a great program.
