In the past I've had quite a few members who offered to make a monetary donation because they appreciated the site. I have several fees that I pay to keep the site going such as the domain name, the forum license, and the hosting of the site.

After the site crashed when we exceded our bandwidth there was a statewide panic and I'm having to upgrade to a higher hosting plan with double the bandwidth. I had many more offers to donate to the site. Some even suggested charging a membership fee or a commision for selling.

What I did is setup a way to donate via Paypal.

I'm not requiring anyone to donate. If you wish to donate that is fine, and I thank you !! I'd rather not charge a sellers fee or membership as that will keep people from joining and selling.

Great site, threw the administrator some $$$ after making the sale. Beats over-priced GUN GO BROKER.

Just an idea, see if you can solicit advertising from local gun shops like Q-town et al.. The post links on your site and every time someone clicks on it, you get a couple cents.  Adds up if there's enough hits.  Throw in organizations like VCDL, NRA and you might actually break even. There just gave you my two cents.... pun intended.:D

I recommend sending a donation equivalent to a Gunbroker.com listing in thanks for every transaction sold on this board.

I've sold three things on this board and have sent donations for each. I'd have paid the same amount on Gunbroker.com, except this keeps it "local."

This is the calculator I use to determine fees. Just put in the total and hit "Compute."
