Okay everyone,
I have a question that I can't find a correct answer to online.
I'm currently on active duty, I have purchased a home in VA but my actual residence is still considered a resident of Florida.
Okay, so can I legally sell a pistol face to face with a bill of sale to someone in VA?
My concerns are that the pistol I currently want to sell has me as the original owner and was registered in Florida in my name. I'm more comfortable with paying a dealer to do a transfer but most people only want to do a FTF transaction which to me sends up a Red flag of some concern. If I was to do a FTF transaction can I?
Does anyone know where I can find answers to this question??
Thank you for your time!
V/R,
Scott

And you don't need a bill of sale. As long as you don't know or have reason to believe the buyer is from out of state, underage, or a felon, you are free to sell within this state without any paperwork whatsoever. Some on here will piss and moan about covering your six with a paper trail but none of the fearful have shown a single case where a private citizen was charged with a crime. Sell to someone that you KNOW shouldn't have it and you'll go to jail but it is not your job to verify their eligibility.

Seems as if you got answer but just to echo everyone. I am also active duty military and had the same questions as you when I first got here. I am a NC resident but stationed in VA. As long as you are ordered (have current orders) saying that you are to be in VA then you can be treated as a VA resident. Same deal as buying a handgun in VA from a dealer that runs a FFL, being that I am a NC resident with NC drivers license I just have to show a copy of my orders showing that I am ordered to be in VA and I am then treated as a VA resident.
