The SLR-104FR is an AKS-74 that was made for the civilian market by Arsenal of Bulgaria. Because Saiga imports from Russia were banned in 2014, it is the closest rifle to a true AK-74 available to U.S. shooters and collectors.

The SLR-104FR was imported from Bulgaria by Arsenal, Inc. in two batches starting at the end of 2013 and into 2014. No longer imported, the SLR-104FR is described as “...5.45×39.5mm caliber, stamped receiver, chrome lined hammer forged barrel, Black color stock set, left-side folding stock, 24×1.5mm right-hand threads, removable muzzle brake, bayonet lug, accessory lug, stainless steel heat shield, 2-stage trigger, and scope rail. Comes with one 30-round magazine, sling, oil bottle, and cleaning kit.” on the Arsenal website (Arsenal SLR-104FR). The two-digit number (54) on the front trunnion of the rifle offered here corresponds to a date of manufacture of 2014.

I purchased this rifle from the original owner on 10/13/2014 and subsequently fired 388 rounds through it without malfunction. The rifle was thoroughly cleaned after each trip to the range. I don’t know how many rounds the original owner fired, but considering the excellent condition this rifle is in, I would estimate the overall round count to be less than 1000. When not in use, the rifle was stored in a Cabela’s gun sock inside a climate-controlled safe. The only alteration to the rifle was removal of the Arsenal stock 2-stage trigger and its replacement with a Tapco Intrafuse single-hook G2 trigger group. An RS Regulate AK-303/ASR mount system was attached (not shown in the pictures below nor is it part of the package offered here). This caused some finish wear on the rail.

The package includes: the rifle, one 30-rd Circle-10 magazine, an owner’s manual, an OD canvas sling, a cleaning kit (in buttstock), an oil bottle, the original 2-stage Arsenal trigger, and the original Arsenal shipping box. Asking price: $3499.
