Any recommendations on a good double barrel for a Short Barreled Shotgun?
Considering: Bikal Stoeger Winchester Model 28 Savage House Brand guns (Sears, Montgomery Ward, Western Auto, etc - Usually made by Savage)
Thanks

Some additional info. This will be 100% Legal - I am in the NFA section.
Want to stay below or close to $300 for the gun before my $200 tax stamp.
I don't want to "destroy" anything with collector value.
Want easy parts availability if needed and want something built like a tank.

Thanks. I saw that post and am considering it.
I know you can read nearly anything on the internet (I pretty much ignore single users that flame a specific gun - or single users that praise them highly), but several folks that used them for Cowboy action seem to replace them every few years. Not sure if this is out of necessity or they just want a new shiny toy. The doubles sometimes also seem to have an issue with the device that switches between barrels on the single trigger models.
Love catch-phrase "It's got electrolytes."
Thanks

Troutnut,
You are correct. I meant the Winchester Model 24.

A shoutout for the 311.A friend of mine from the 70's who worked as a member of the RPD had one of the best "confiscated" collections I have ever seen, and a 311 with somewhat "stubby" barrels (around 10") was fascinating. Seeing what it did with 2 3/4 #1 buckshot to a dead refrigerator at 10 yards was UNUSUAL.He and the "collection" are gone a lot of years, but the memory still is there.Adios,Fitzs!

Hmmmm........how about a Winchester 97?
Got me thinking cash...........what do you think of a Savage 24v with 10" or so barrels? the existing stock on such could be remodeled into a graceful shape (think 1807 Harper's Ferry pistol),sort of American howdah pistol, and stout enough for hunting. Couple of chamber inserts for the .30-30 in .327 magnum(would allow small game shooting with all the standard straight rimmed .32 pistol cartridges) and there you go.Only hard part would be designing a proper sight system for the rifle barrel.

Would a Savage 24 be a short barreled rifle or shotgun?

Would a Savage 24 be a short barreled rifle or shotgun? It would be a marked return to practicality in a simple effective arm in the fashion of the H&R Handy Gun,Ithaca Auto & Burglar, and the greatest backpacker's firearm of the bunch, the Marble's Game Getter, only in a modern format.
