Who would you recommend for a newbie looking into getting a suppressor? If they are removed from the NFA list (according to the senate’s version of the budget bill), I would be in the market for one, maybe two.

Can these be ordered directly online? What model would someone recommend? I would be looking for a multi caliber type device.

What calibers are you seeking to suppress? That would impact recommendations you receive.

Looking for something that can do 9mm to .308. I saw a short video on a YHM R9, so maybe something similar. I’m a bit confused about all the different mounting options.

Hall precision in Fredericksburg is pretty good as well. I went with an Omega 36m for my first versatile can.

So you would be better suited seeking one that is Hub compatible. That would provide you with more options for attaching it to various firearms. Keep in mind that you will not get the best sound reduction from a suppressor that fits that requirement.

Try doing some research on "Pew Science" to view ratings. Don't rush it and make an educated selection.

One size fits all cans may leave you disappointed in performance but if you just want a taste of what can be, especially for a first can, it could be a good idea.

Check out the Vers36. It's low back pressure, titanium, and modular.

Hub or 1.375x24 is just a thread pitch that many manufacturers have adopted. From there, you can direct thread to the barrel, use a taper mount system like Rearden/Plan B/Xeno, or a QD ratchet like surefire/keymo/dual-lok.

For your 9mm, if it's a handgun, you may need a booster (spring mount that decouples the suppressor from barrel under recoil to allow proper function).

You can order everything online. I recommend getting a UPS scan of your fingerprints so you don't have to do ink cards and you have the file forever. Do your research on which FFLs near you charge decent rates for NFA transfers. They should not charge more than $100. Some shops like Capitol Armory actually have a ship to your door program which is nice.
