At this point I give up trying to look for the handgun I want due to people being weird and not understanding the universal background check law for private sales is GONE. I am 19 years old ACTIVE DUTY military stationed in Virginia Beach, I am a Virginia resident. I have a signed lease in Virginia Beach, my permanent duty station orders to Virginia Beach, my Ohio drivers license and Military ID (cac) looking for a handgun I have $600 cash. Preferably a Glock or S&W. Please pm me on here or for a faster reply text me at 937-701-3663. Thank you very much! EDIT: I inquired a G45, therefore I no longer need a seller. Thank you all!

The universal background check doesn't mean when you're under 21 you can purchase and own a handgun, the law says you still have to be 21 to buy a handgun

You have to be 21 to purchase a handgun from a FFL, 18-20 can purchase in PRIVATE sales legally, under the premise they are not felons or any other criteria that prohibits someone. Edit: for anyone reading this please educate yourself on the law. UBC when it was in effect didn’t allow 18-20 year olds to purchase handguns privately due to having to go through a NICS check and it automatically denies anyone under 21 to be transferred/buy a handgun privately. That no longer exists, so 18-20 year olds can privately purchase legally now.

The 18-20 issue was the basis of the lawsuit that overturned the UBC.

All you zipperheads saying I'm incorrect better educate yourselves-both federal AND Virginia state law clearly mandate that someone under 21 cannot purchase a handgun from either a dealer or a private purchase. You want to go against federal and state law that's your business but face the consequences if you get busted.

No, a person under 21 cannot legally acquire a handgun through a private sale in Virginia because Virginia requires all private firearm sales to be processed through a licensed dealer, and federal law prohibits a licensed dealer from selling a handgun to anyone under 21. While state law generally allows 18- to 20-year-olds to possess a handgun with a parent's written consent for specific activities like sports, this does not extend to purchasing one through a private sale.

No, federal law prohibits a 19-year-old from purchasing a handgun from a licensed dealer, though they may be able to acquire one through a private sale in some states, provided state and local laws permit it. While a federal judge ruled these restrictions unconstitutional, the ruling is currently under appeal, and federal law still requires a person to be at least 21 to buy a handgun from a licensed dealer.

no it does not.

In fact, VA state police refuse to do the background check for person to person transfers at FFLs.

You are wrong and I would bet you my house against a dollar on that. Be open to learning something. Or just keep being wrong. It’s up to you.

Try looking up Elhert V settle or pay attention to recent events within Virginia 2a news… and why would a 18-20 year old need permission from a parent? 18-20 year olds no longer require to listen to anyone they are ADULTS who can sign a peice of paper to the government that’s basically a blank check stating that they are willing to sacrifice their life and serve. 18-20 year olds can legally purchase and possess a handgun as of recently due to law change, by the way universal background checks do not exist anymore in Virginia, for now…

Haha. Might want to read up on the issue before calling others insulting names. It's got to be pretty embarrassing to follow up the insult with paragraphs of incorrect information.
