Does anybody else shoot at SEG in Ashburn? I've been a member there for a few months. They've got a shiny facility, rarely a wait, it's close to my house, and the membership fee is fairly priced. Despite all those pros, I think I've decided to cancel and give up on the place. Why would I do that after such a glowing review?! I think I'm out because the staff is pretty terrible. A few are friendly, but 90% of the staff I've interacted with there manage to be simultaneously terrified and condescending. Despite several opportunities to prove otherwise, the unhappy workers at SEG seem to have zero inclination towards customer service. Has anyone else experienced this? Just looking for a sanity check to see if I'm the looney in this situation.

I went in there to transfer without an appointment (First time selling private in VA so I didn't know) and was met with such an attitude from this 120lb "man" behind the desk. It was 9am and the only people there were going into the range. No other sales were going on. I ended up calling home FFL's and found a super cool dude to transfer for me that morning. I already avoid indoor ranges like the plague so I definitely would never go back.

Yep, that sounds pretty on brand based on my experience.

Had another bad experience and decided to make it my last. I purchased a rifle from them online during a pre-Black Friday sale they had. After hearing nothing on my order for a full week, I called up to inquire about picking it up. Was told I couldn't do so for 1 to 2 more weeks because they didn't have available appointments. Ended up talking to the owner who told me, in so many words, they didn't really need or care about any one customer's business. I canceled the order and my membership. I'm a really agreeable person but can't patronize places like that.

I haven't been to SEG in years but I don't remember the employees being dicks. The company is a side project created because one of the owners sons (Steve) screwed up and lost a multimillion dollar government contract for the parent company. He wasn't very well liked in the military community either.

They've been condescending since at least 2009 when they started a thread on ARFCOM and were crapping on the people who replied. They also made continued political contributions to Obama, Clinton Kaine, etc. and when called on it related an individual contributing to their 401K as the same level of support to the gun grabbers as their direct contributions.

While I have no love for the owners of SEG, this post is missing a lot of context. It has since been revealed in the dudes criminal case that he:

- Was a D.C resident and a prohibited person
- Installed the FRT in a SEG owned rental gun instead of his own gun
- SEG didn’t call the ATF, they called the LCSO who then proceeded to get the ATF involved

The dudes IQ must have been hovering around the 70 mark.

Definitely par for the course when it comes to SEG....It all stems from the top down. Owner is horrible, can't build a professional team and knows nothing of customer service.

They could be amazing.....Won't get a single dime of my money.
