Recently I've seen a number of for sale posts stating the buyer must pay "fees". There is no longer any requirement for private sales to go through a FFL in VA. Should you have questions, you can refer to the Virginia State Police website for confirmation. By requesting a potential buyer to go through a FFL now, you're just adding an additional and unnecessary tax to the buyer.
If you don't know this, I'm betting you failed to vote in our last statewide elections also.....

Still seeing new posts (2026) asking for people to meet at a FFL for transfer. Why are you asking buyers to pay an additional tax?
