Have two Baers, PII and TRS. Can't say enough good things about them. My opinion, the best out there.

tspike, that's a great "GI" picture!

Tell us more about the 1911 - an authentic looking one!

And, it's a 1911, NOT a 1911A1!

Indeed it is an authentic 1911 with a born on date between Oct. 24, 1918 to April 10, 1919. I rescued it about 7 years ago from the bottom of a old tool box at a yard sale in Yorktown. Picked it up for $75 along with the toolbox and assorted old hand tools. It was void of any finish sporting only a light coat of rust along with the original two tone magazine loaded with 1940's dated ammo.
I had it bead blasted, removed the sights replacing them with taller later dated sights. Parkerized it, installed a NOS WWII barrel and link and have been carrying it since.
I own 6 1911's and this is by fay my favorite even though it still bites me every time I take it to the range.

A great piece of history and a fascinating story to go with it!

You were very lucky to have found it and purchased it for such a low price. The story reminds me of finding the rare old Harley in a barn....

Thanks for rescuing it and for sharing it with us.

Just got back into the 1911 game after getting rid of my Para Ordnance two years ago.

Picked up a SW1911 with light rail tonight. Very impressed with the fit and finish. Very nice gun.

Why not move this to the 1911 section on the board?

I just made a post in the 'retailers' section. There's a guy in NOVA making custom 1911 smooth grips from a choice of about 50 woods

This is his first set of uniquely left-handed plastic injected burled maple grips for my Randall 1911

I built this one for pin matches. It's a Colt National Match slide and barrel on a Para high capacity frame. The muzzle brake was a custom job. Softest shooting .45ACP I've ever fired.

My customized Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical in .45 ACP and my new Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical in 9mm. Only thing done to the newly purchased 1911 is the addition of black Novak grips.
