I recently ordered and received several P365 XMacro 17 round mags for my p365X. I find that while the slide will lock back on the empty mag, I cannot depress the slide release lever to release the slide on the empty mag. Even pressing with full effort and holding the slide back a bit to release pressure. I would HAVE TO remove the empty mag before releasing the slide. I have not had this issue with any other pistol, including the original 12 round mags. So basically I cannot drop the slide on an empty mag.

Upon reaching out to Sig Support, this is the official response from 2 different service reps:

Thank you for contacting SIG SAUER Customer Service.

What you are experiencing with your magazines is not a defect or malfunction. This is by design and completely normal. The firearm is designed to lock the slide to the rear on an empty magazine and keep it there. The slide catch lever interfaces with the magazine follower. P365 magazines have very stiff springs. Especially with new(er) magazines, it will be extremely difficult to manipulate the slide catch lever while an empty magazine is inserted in the firearm. As the magazines break in with use, it may become easier, but the slide catch lever is not designed to be pressed on an empty magazine. The correct procedure would be to remove the empty magazine, release the slide, then reinsert the magazine.

So again, according to Sig, you are not supposed to drop the slide on an empty mag but have to remove the empty mag before dropping the slide and reinsert the empty mag.

I like their gun, but their mags are a little wacky. I think they require a breaking period, then a replacement period shortly after that.

I like the way mine shoots, but you have to mess around with them.
