Buying a used ATV - recommendations

Has anyone had good or bad experiences with purchasing a used ATV for hunting? I'm looking for what to look for or avoid. For example, I came across a 2003 Honda Rancher for about $2k. Seems to run fine, has new CVs, but what else are we looking for? The top end - should it be expected to be overhauled? What about hours and miles?

Sounds like a decent price if it isn't all beat up. I bought a used 2014 Rancher in 2017 and it was in excellent shape. mine has 400 hours on it and less than 2K miles.
